Theme 2016 – The future we want

In its 4th edition, FAMUN will address the topic “The future we want”, which main objective is to encourage the debate over transformative strategies for building a more sustainable and resilient future.

“The future we want” was the title of the final document of the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, held in 2012, and which was the reference to the drafting of a new global development agenda supported by the United Nations and approved in September 2015 by its 193 Member States. The agenda, entitled “Transforming our World: the 2030 Agenda for the Sustainable Development”, is composed by 17 Sustainable Development Goals and 169 targets which will guide development in upcoming years, having as pillars the eradication of poverty, the improvement of prosperity and social well-being, the protection of environment and the tackle of climate change.

In brief, “The Future We Want” is an invitation to a deeper debate regarding the future of each committee and topic simulated at FAMUN 2016, always having in mind the spirit of the new development agenda.
